Dr. Gary W. Knox is a Professor of Environmental Horticulture and Extension Specialist with the University of Florida at the North Florida Research and Education Center in Quincy (outside Tallahassee). Dr. Knox’s Extension programs emphasize “Florida Yards & Neighborhoods” and other garden and nursery practices to protect the environment and promote efficient use of natural resources. He was named 2005 Outstanding Educator by the Florida Nursery, Growers and Landscape Association. His research interests focus on evaluating species and cultivars of common ornamentals for their invasive potential as well as ornamental and growth characteristics. Current plant passions include crape myrtle, magnolia, hydrangea, rain lilies, hardy palms, succulents, ornamental grasses, ornamental vines and many other plants.
